Pinnacle is a specialist provider of software and technology to the aviation industry
Pinnacle’s system iMATS
is a complex, industrial-standard telematics system, developed specifically for the aviation industry, which provides connectivity to airport equipment involved in critical operations.
iMATS
enables airports, airlines, ground handlers, airport equipment fleet management companies and airport equipment manufacturers to realise substantial cost savings through the provision of information from operationally critical aviation equipment.
iMATS provides real time information and historical analysis of data
iMATS
not only provides benefits in terms of time performance but also analysis of fleet utilisation profiling, monitoring Service Level Performance, and providing savings and benefits for maintenance health and safety, environmental compliance and procurement analysis, and overall safety.
In preparing aircraft for departure, specialist and often expensive equipment, known as
Ground Support Equipment (GSE), is used. To turnaround an aircraft (the process of an aircraft being prepared for its next departure after landing),
GSE is required for activities such as pushing back, cleaning, replenishing and re-fuelling aircraft.

Complex logistics are involved in a turnaround of an aircraft within a tight timeframe
The co-ordination and performance of the GSE
and GSE
operators
is a critical component of an on-time turnaround. Impacts to schedules and changes to arrival and departure times require fast, carefully considered logistical decisions to keep an efficient operation. It is a dynamic, fastmoving, geographically spread and time-pressured environment.
iMATS
helps to avoid schedule issues and mitigate impacts to a schedule (e.g. due to weather conditions) by efficient deployment of GSE
assisting to maximise aircraft on time performance.
Our customers
Customers using iMATS
include industry names such as British Airways, dnata (Emirates), American Airlines, United Airlines, Babcock
and Rushlift Doosan
(for easyJet
equipment at Gatwick Airport).

The aviation industry is recognising the proven benefits from telematics connectivity
This is verified by airports such as Heathrow
enforcing compulsory telematics connectivity for all companies that operate motorised equipment at the airport.

Other airports have begun to follow Heathrow’s lead, along with a surge in airlines and ground handlers recognising that it is a major advantage to have telematic connectivity. Many are instigating telematics programs with associated budgets, including some of the largest companies in the aviation industry.
Pinnacle
recognises that to capitalise on the recent growth in the market, a strong global partner with a presence in airports and ability to add value with sales, implementation and support would be an advantage, particularly as Pinnacle’s competition do not have the capability to easily roll out across multiple airports. Strong sales capability was important to be able to capitalise on the market opportunity ahead of competition.
Honeywell Aerospace
recognised the recent market potential for telematics connectivity and were in the process of carrying out their due diligence in the marketplace to select a telematics technology partner, identifying and selecting Pinnacle
as their preferred partner. Synergy in objectives and timing were clear for both companies, which led to a contract to partner, signed in March 2018.
